The older woman/ younger man relationship is growing in Japan. This is what the Japan Daily Press has to say about it:

The battle of the sexes was a very 80s phenomena and has come to a peaceful settlement of acceptability as equals. However the equation between men and women flourishes better when the woman is older than her man. This mindset is catching up fast in Japan, where many cases of men in 20s are seen dating older women in their 40s.

Is it better communication or just their maturity that younger men find attractive?

According to Meiji University psychologist Yoshihiko Morotomi, younger men have lesser egos than their older counterparts, hence understand the needs of a woman better, are more flexible in their outlook and treat their lady with cherished value.

The perfect recipe for a harmonious relationship, that’s what it all boils down to!

Older women have been through the cycle of insecurities in the 90s and have matured on to have a stable perception on life. Moreover she is financially independent and doesn’t require a man who is Mr. Moneybags. From a man’s point of view, the older woman is an independent lady who is not too hard to please or high maintenance. She can take care of her share of the bills and as long as she is good-looking and mentally compatible, age doesn’t really matter.

A recent survey of 200 women in their 40s, showed that 90% of them had dated younger men, and if that statistic isn’t good enough, according to the health ministry one out of four couples married in 2010 (amounting to 23.6%) had the older woman-younger man equation.

On the flipside, younger women consider men in their 40’s more as ‘ojisan’, so a romantic relationship with them most unlikely!
