Sex, lies and any excuse will do!
I attended a friend’s champagne garden party this summer. She was dating a nice and very eligible older man. He isn’t setting the world on fire but he barbeques well. As the party reeled drunkenly towards it conclusion, he caught her in the kitchen embroiled with a handsome toyboy. His jaw clattered to the floor alongside the barbeque tongs.
“ We’re just doing a body shot,” said she, as innocently as if she’d been interrupted while discussing the Davos forum.
When it comes to excuses it may well be that women have more imagination. Men tend to go for a flat denial: “I did not have sex with that woman” (apparently it was a cigar.) If it’s not the flat denial it’s the ‘you’re losing it’ approach “You are so suspicious, you need help because it’s all in your head” or even “Do you believe me or your own eyes?”
