First Date Sex

Is it ever a good idea to sleep with a man on the first date?  Discuss.

Should this question ever present itself on an exam paper, I’m sure the male/female response ratio would be fairly balanced.

Us TBWers are an avant-garde lot, savvy enough to navigate the shark-infested waters of unconventional relationships, and within that swirling whirlpool, embrace the ‘catch as catch can’ element of our liaisons dangereuses.

Playing hard to get is rather dated in the 21st Century but I still maintain that keeping the drawbridge up while the knight is circling the battlements often works in the damsel’s favour.  It may at the very least prolong the social intercourse towards a second date.

One might find, however, that the Knight becomes a troll once he’s had his way but that’s a risk one has to take.  Don’t beat yourself up about this: it’s the name of the game and the nature of the beast.  Seeds must be sown and not always in the same field.

Personally, I’ve played the game both ways. If the chemistry is such that a first date progresses at an irresistible pace, it would be churlish to shout “No!” when desire makes you whisper “Yes…”

I’m also a great believer in Carpe Diem for this day will not come again and you might end up carping on about what a great opportunity you missed.  No one ever died saying: “I wish I’d had less sex” except perhaps Freddie Mercury…

When you meet someone for the first time, you generally know in a nanosecond whether there is sexual chemistry or not.  If this wonderfully elusive element is present, you also know that at some point you are going to have the pleasure of dealing with it.  The question is: when?

If you put out on Date One, you run the risk of never seeing him again which may leave you feeling insecure and regretful.  If you drag it out for too long, he may think you don’t fancy him and look for someone else who does.  It’s a fine line.

The dynamic on TBW is very different to the rest of society.  We all know what we’re here for and it probably isn’t marriage and children.  Although it’s much more seductive to take the scenic route rather than the motorway, if someone rings your bells so loudly the noise is deafening, you’ve simply got to go for it.

Ladies – have no regrets.  Guys – don’t forget to say Thanks.

The main thing is to enjoy it.  That’s what TBW is all about.
