Cougar Relationships

Cougar is the nickname given to an older woman who likes to have relationships with men several years younger than them. These women are typically over 35-years-old and are at least 15 years older than the men they date. A cougar relationship is not all about forming a commitment though. Often times, cougars will be with younger men just to have a fling, and vice versa. Society may look down upon the extensive age differences in these relationships, but it makes these couples happy and that is what matters the most.

For many generations, we have seen older men dating younger women but never the other way around. Even in today’s extremely liberal culture, an older woman dating younger men is kind of a taboo subject that we used to only see in the movies. Women are often seen by society as the gentler and more ethical sex who would never do anything unorthodox like a man. But times have changed ever since the women’s liberation movement. Many women today feel liberated enough to search out younger men because they are simply attracted to them. As for the men, they like older women because there is no pressure to have kids or to financially provide for them like there is with younger women. Since older women usually have more money, they end up spoiling the younger men with gifts and nights out on the town. So it is kind of a win, win situation.

Cougar relationships used to be hard for older women to arrange because women don’t typically pick up other guys. It is tradition for the guy to pick up on the girl. But thanks to the internet, it has allowed the formation of cougar relationships to be extremely easy. There are now dozens of cougar dating websites where cougars and “young cubs” can create profiles with their pictures on them. Once the profiles are created, they can search through the profiles of other members of the website and send a message to the one they are interested in. If they end up being interested back, then a date can be arranged and the cougar date will begin.

The world is changing fast and the number of nontraditional relationships is increasing drastically. We have already seen interracial dating and gay dating make a huge leap towards acceptance in our culture. Cougar relationships is the next controversial relationship that will eventually be accepted as more people become liberal minded and believers in equality.
