So let me set the scene for you.

My 20-plus-year marriage had ended, a lonely, passionless and pretty miserable final few years. No intimacy, no sex. I had turned into my great-aunt Maud, a dried-up old prune.

During this time I met a guy while taking a course. He was 10 years younger and charming. What followed was an intoxicating foray into text flirting—leaving me quite giddy with rapidly thawing frigidity and the profound realisation that I’d lived my previous 20 years in a sort of coma. That friendship, however, remained platonic.

The attitude of men my own age saddened me, and I became frustrated by their idea of foreplay (not to mention the postcoital narcolepsy five minutes later. So, I told myself, wasn’t it about time I did a little road testing of some younger models? (Purely in the name of market research, you understand…)

I had begun to realise that I’m a nonconformist—a rule-breaker and risk-taker… and, further, that I’m completely comfortable with my own nonconformity. I was 47, and it was about bloody time I celebrated the Rebel Rebel in me.

Around that time an acquaintance told me about a dating website called Toyboy Warehouse. She added that she couldn’t possibly sign up on that site because of insecurities about being overweight/out of shape/unfit/wrinkly/timid… I’ll bet you can already guess my response…

Where do I sign up?

It’s a curious old thing–the word cougar sounds rather threatening and predatory, don’t you think? Yet “threatening” and “predatory” are absolutely not words I would ever use to describe myself. So I was curious as I registered my details, a short, bio, my height, hair colour, AGE and other details, I signed up and held my breath! What world was I entering?

My girlfriends fell into two camps: those utterly horrified by what I was about to embark upon (secretly jealous I reckoned) and those who cheered me on and wanted all the details (maybe just a bit jealous but also excited about living vicariously through me)!

I joined the site because I like a dare!  I was looking for fun, flirting, sex, and education. What I did not expect was that great friendships would develop, along with a level of intimacy that I’d never before experienced before in my life. And, best of all, more attention, devotion and laughter than during two decades of marriage.

And the sex. Oh, the sex was extraordinary. Selfless and attentive and satisfying. You see, the reality is far from the cultural icon of Mrs. Robinson. In fact, the most likely scenario for a woman with a younger partner is that she has arrived at midlife having had a long long-term relationship, few sexual partners, several children, and a pretty boring sex life.

These young men are thrilled to be able to teach an older woman some new tricks!

Why do younger men date older women?

I was curious, so questioned these beautiful young men on their reasons for hanging out with an older woman. (The men I have met are on average 15 years younger than me)—and their answers were enlightening.

  • Intelligent conversation
  • Independent—An older woman doesn’t NEED a man to validate her existence
  • Sexually more adventurous—and happy to try new things
  • Sexy without even knowing it—comfortable in her own skin
  • Accepting of her partner.
  • All woman – the real deal….generally without silicon and self-obsessed grooming practices.
  • Able to teach about relationships in a non-threatening way.

In the beginning I did begin a rendezvous by justifying myself, explaining that my body was not that of a 25-year-old; that I’d carried, given birth to, and nursed my children, blah, blah. And then a finger came up to my lips to silence all my disclaimers.

“Have you any idea how amazing I get to feel because YOU chose me?” was the response I got from one beautiful young man.

“I get to be myself with you,” he added. Good grief, I didn’t see that one coming. We get so caught up in our own insecurities about how we look that we lose sight of what’s really important, about who we are on the inside.  I found that in these nontraditional older-younger relationships, both my partner and I got to be who we really are—masks removed.

Ladies, don’t wait until you’re “perfect” before you get out there dating again. Get out there right away and do some exploring—you might just end up having the time of your life.

When I first joined ToyboyWarehouse.com  ten years ago, I was not only newly single at nearly fifty and bloody terrified,  I didn’t have a clue about dating websites. I decided that as I was not looking for anything too serious and needing to have some fun I would sign up. I liked the sound of TBW having read a write up in a Sunday paper during my dark, ‘getting divorced’ stage.

I briefly dated a couple of guys in my own age bracket but found them laden with baggage and depressingly predictable. So, with the help of a younger friend, I put up a profile. I have to admit I didn’t look at it again for some weeks, but when I did I was amazed to find I had lots of messages. And so my adventures began…

Now, age gap dating isn’t for everyone! Especially when it’s the woman that is much older than the man. I am sad to say that there is still resistance in society at large to accept that, like any relationship that is created outside what is judged as ‘the norm’, we are entitled to date who we like as we like. Age gaps relationships are still perceived as ridiculous and short term only and eyebrows still get raised higher than the Shard if you get caught in the arms of a much younger man.

Not so of course for the Older Man, parading a gorgeous, much younger woman on his arm. He is applauded for his prowess and patted on the back for his virility and youthful persona. If you take into account that this handsome man wouldn’t even pass the time of day with a woman like me, someone his own age with a past, what options do I have? Do I lower my standards out of desperation or try something new? So I found myself in a world of double standards; confidence at rock bottom; and my husband of eighteen years in the arms of my friend and neighbour…sigh!

So I asked myself why is there still a stigma attached to age-gap dating? Especially when it’s an older woman that sets her sights on a younger man and vice a versa. Can this be overcome? To a degree I think it already has, as more people make age gap dating their choice. We still have a long way to go, but as long as we don’t waiver the barriers will continue to fall. But I find we still need to be brave and not hide our preferences.

My outspokenness on the subject is well documented and always causes a ripple in the media even now! And I’ve been at it for ten years! For some reason my dating tales still make a story.  I concluded that I must be in a minority? Do other older women feel uncomfortable if their date is younger? I know from experience that most of the dating websites that target the cougar and toyboy market usually have more guys than gals! And I really don’t know why that is.

It is beyond me why more older women don’t sign up. I mean what’s not to like? I have rarely experienced a downside and when I was newly divorced TBW helped me find myself all over again. (Well, their toyboy members did.) I regained not only my confidence – that had been worn away by an unfaithful husband who justified his behaviour by putting me down at every opportunity – but I found a zest for life and a youthful joy that I had forgotten existed.

In the arms of the younger man I experienced tenderness, laughter, joy and the best sex of my life. I was reborn. Reinvented. Rejuvenated. I felt amazed! Alive! and embraced my new life with the gusto of a hurricane.

I don’t advise dating the much younger man if you are hell bent on finding a husband or life partner! If such a thing exists. In my experience if you get ten years out of a relationship it’s an achievement. But some of my relationships, of “sorts”, with much younger men have gone on for years. They don’t take the shape of conventional relationships and you need the patience of a saint, but it’s so exciting and exhilarating. The highs outweigh the lows.

The perception of marriage has changed over the last fifty years. Mating for life used to be the norm but not anymore. Marriage is no more binding than any other relationship. The formality of a legal and public declaration carries no weight at all these days. Divorce is rife and recoupling common. If it doesn’t work we give up. If it becomes too hard we look for comfort elsewhere.

Single people of all ages are being thrown together on dating sites and apps where there is so much choice, it’s like being in possession of an unlimited supply of pick ‘n’ mix. It was always inevitable that there would be dates that crossed cultures and religions, so why not age gaps?

For me dating younger men is the norm and I would just like the rest of the world to gaze upon me and any other couple with an obvious age gap with no more than a passing glance. It’s time to look past the superficial. It is my mission. So come on ladies what you waiting for?

There is always a chance that you can find a solid relationship with a younger man. Look at President Macron and his wife Brigitte. A beacon of light for us all with their successful marriage and an age gap of 24 years! Bravo!

You may have to kiss a lot of frogs to find yourself a President but, my god, it is so much fun trying!

If you got hooked first time, get ready for round two. That’s right, your favourite cougar dating site has put together the essential list of romance and dating literature you need in 2019. The following is a culmination of hot romance, gripping stories and lovable characters. We can’t wait to check out these novels and soon, so will you.

Minette Walters

For anyone gripped by The Last Hours, get ready for an epic conclusion to the fantastic series. In the first of the series, (also called ‘The Last Hours’),Walters confidently explored the Medieval romance genre, giving you a concrete sense of time and place. Historical romance differs from traditional romance as it requires an expertly placed sense of space, you need to feel as though you’re actually there. Walters has done this brilliantly with The Last Hours series.

Set in the 1340’s against a backdrop of devastation caused by the Black Death, the novels follow a romantic entanglement that battles against the turmoil around them. Its conclusion, The Turn of Midnight, is set to be a powerful end to the series.

Mandy Baggot

With feel good romance and delicious wit and comedy, Baggot is a rare author that can give you that warm feeling inside. Baggot came to our attention with Truly, Madly, Greekly, a must have for your next Summer holiday. We follow Ellen as she’s pulled between trying to come to terms with her life falling apart and her sister’s chaotic wedding planning. Flying off to Corfu, she only wants to rebuild herself in the Greek sun, that’s until Greece gives her a distraction – the handsome Yan.

Grab your suitcase, we’re making our way back to Corfu with One Last Greek Summer. We’re so excited to see a return of the hot, romantic adventures that we enjoyed so much in Truly, Madly, Greekly. Definitely one to check out.

Kristen Ashley

Ashley has been a firm favourite of our for a while. An author with an incredible range, she’s penned a plethora of standalone novels and exciting series. Ashley is very much a romance author that perks our ears whenever there’s a new novel announcement.

For anyone unfamiliar with Ashley, a great place to start is with the thrill-ride that is the Rock Chick series. As the title suggests, the series hosts a number of kick ass rock chicks who take part in action packed adventures. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes unbelievable, but always hot, the Rock Chick series keeps you gripped never knowing what’s coming next.

Another favourite of ours is The Dream Man series. Just like Rock Chick, the series pulls no punches when it comes to hot bedroom romance. Mixing in Ashley’s skilful use of drama, comedy and character. Quiet Man is the latest in the series and we’re so excited to check this one out.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Samantha Towle

For anyone familiar with Towle’s work, you likely know of her smash hit The Storm series – a romping, fast paced thrillride with rockstar bad boys. Towle came to our attention however with her standalone novel Trouble.

Trouble mixes the bad boy romance we know and love with a difficult backstory, adding a layer of depth to our female protagonist Mia Monroe. Damaged by abusive men in her life, Monroe seeks a way out, but finds it in an unlikely place thanks to the headstrong Jordan Matthews. Trouble is a novel that keeps you gripped by these characters, wanting to uncover more and more of their rich and enveloping backstory. Towle is an author with an incredible insight into character. She is able to build complex and emotionally investing relationships between characters that seem to jump from the page.

For many, Towle is most well known for her The Storm series. The novels match up to their name, introducing a chaotic whirlwind of romance, emotion and rock and roll. An absolute highlight for us was the ending in 4th in the series, The Storm. Trust me, you need to read it to know what we’re talking about! We’re so excited for Towle’s next book, Finding Storm. Keep updated here.

Denise Grover

Grover is one of the most extensive writers on our list, writing expertly across a wide range of genres. No matter your literary preferences, Grover has a thrilling adventure on hand. For us, we’re in love with the Neely Kate Mystery series.

The books are an offshoot of the Rose Gardner Investigation series, which is an offshoot of the Rose Gardner Mystery series. Don’t worry, this just means there’s a lots of literature to sink your teeth into. The highlight for us has been, Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes, the first in the series. In it we’re introduced to Rose Gardner, our titular character that’ll follow us on stories across the Investigation and Mystery series. Don’t fret about being bogged down by an overly dark story, Grover successfully winds in humour and wit into a thrilling tale.

The Neely Kate Mystery series follows Kate, who was introduced to us in Rose Gardner’s stories. She was also a character we enjoyed and seeing her with her own series was such a treat. Check out the latest, Dirty Money, now.

Melissa Foster

You may know Foster for her fantastic Love In Bloom series – a set of books that truly exhibit her ability to mix seduction and emotion into a story.

The books touch on big subjects, such as the trials and tribulations of families. It subverts expectation by introducing a number of twists and surprising plotlines that keep you hooked. It also catches you off guard with it’s funny side, causing you to laugh out loud on several occasions.

‘The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls’ has turned up the sex factor to 11, whilst keeping the fun and easy-reading style of its parent collection Love in Bloom. Be sure to check out the latest in the series – Wild, Crazy Hearts.

J.D. Horn

For anyone not familiar with Horn’s work, it’s an expertly crafted dive into the paranormal and supernatural world. You do need to invest a level of concentration to grasp the winding politics and narrative of the books, but when you do you’re rewarded with an intense sense of investment.

Despite the otherworldly nature of Horn’s work, especially The Witches of New Orleans series, you never feel detracted from the story. While it conjures the fantastical, you always stay grounded thanks to the great depth Horn builds for his characters.

The Witches of New Orleans kicked off with The King of Bones and Ashes, and was followed up by a favourite of ours The Book of the Unwinding. The third in the series, The Final Days of Magic, sets to continue Alice Marin’s story. Definitely one to check out.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Anna Jacobs

Lancashire born Jacob’s is a firm favourite from our list. For anyone who’s a fan of historical stories of love and romance, Jacob’s is a heart-warming must read author.

Jacob’s came to our attention with the Rivershaw Saga. The books follow the lives of a number of characters trying to rebuild their lives during post World War 2. Everything from the small and seemingly mundane, such as rationing, to the weighty emotional chaos many of the characters face, all culminate into an expertly written set of stories. Jacobs explores the darkest aspects of relationships just as much as the positive sides, painting no relationship as perfect and mess-free.

Alongside the Rivershaw Saga, other series to check out include the Kershaw Sister Series, The Swan River Saga and, the eagerly anticipated new Birch End Series.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

K. Bromberg

Bromberg has a host of fantastic books that show off the best in erotic literature, definitely a go-to for us when we’re after a steamy literature session.

It would be difficult to list here all of highlights, but some top contenders include;

  • The Driven Series. This series was one of the reasons our attention was peaked by Bromberg, if you haven’t checked it out, what are you doing?! The story follows Colton, a high-flying casanova, and Rylee, a young woman rebuilding her life after a difficult past. With fully developed characters that are difficult not to relate to, you root for their relationship to develop, despite an ever-present dark history looming.
  • Everyday Heroes Series. Bromberg has an ability to mix passionate and seduction with a thoroughly emotional story, one that keeps you invested. The Everyday Heroes Series is no exception, with one of the most favourite central characters we’ve had with Emerson/Emmy.

We’re so excited for Bromberg’s latest series Wicked Ways, be sure to check it out on launch day.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Kristen Proby

You may have heard of Proby from the fantastic With Me in Seattle series, most notably the explosive start to the series with Come Away With Me.

Come Away With Me has been a firm favourite for us, definitely a go-to for a hot, sexual story that holds no bars. The central couple don’t hit it off at first. Luke accuses Natalie, a professional photographer, of being paparazzi even though she has no idea who he is. But that introduction doesn’t stop a sensual romance developing.

The With Me in Seattle series continues to go from strength to strength, with Fight With Me, possibly one of the hottest male leads we’ve seen in a while, and Play With Me, which cements this series as one that follows men who know what they want, and they’re not going to stop until they’ve got it.

The Romancing Manhattan series started with the fantastic All the Way and we’re eagerly anticipating the second in the series; All it Takes

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Sabrina Jeffries

Jeffries work mixes the historical world of lords and ladies, royalty and family, with a seductive central relationship. Out of the many historical romance authors, Jeffries’ work towers with its uncanny ability to build worlds. Necessary for any successful historical romance story is a tactile settings, one that you can close your eyes and imagine enveloping you. Jeffires work does just that, with the most notable being The Hellions of Halstead Hall series, a firm favourite of ours.

We’re super excited for Project Duchess, which seems to be echoing many of the same themes of The Hellions of Halstead Hall, a dark secret past and reluctance to see that what is in front of you. Be sure to check out Project Duchess.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Devney Perry

We first had our interest peaked by Perry with the fantastic Jamison Valley series, especially its introduction and Perry’s debut, The Coppersmith Farmhouse. Despite being a debut, this story shows an author who understands the craft and knows how to write characters. Even after finishing The Coppersmith Farmhouse, it had us yearning to return to the sweet central romance. Despite their rocky start, it’s a relationship that had us bursting with joy.

We thoroughly enjoyed the first in Perry’s other series, the Maysen Jar. Again Perry makes it so you can’t help but fall in love with the main romance. A story full of love and emotion bursting from the pages. That’s why we’re super excited for book 2, Letters to Molly.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Jennifer Probst

Where do we start with Probst? If you’re short on time and can only read one series this year, firstly, you need to find more spare time?! Secondly, the Marriage to a Billionaire series may be a perfect option. It’s definitely our favourite from Probst.

The first in the series, The Marriage Bargain, is a story we’ve seen before but done in an interesting way. Billionaire Nicholas Ryan needs to find someone to marry to keep his wealthy status. He offers Alexa McKenzie an interesting ‘proposal’ – a fake marriage. As you can imagine, things don’t go to plan.

Probst is an accomplished author and by reading her work, you can see that very clearly. She has a writing style that exudes confidence, seductive without being smutty, sweet without being soppy. Marriage to a Billionaire is an explosive, hot series, and it’s only the tip of the iceberg of Probst’s work.

The Stay series keeps this confident writing style whilst adding heaps of sweet and heartwarming story. This series has been thoroughly entertaining and we can’t wait for the next in the series, All Roads Lead to You.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Jay Crownover

If you haven’t heard of Crownover’s work before, you’re missing out an author of unabashed, tantalising literature. Crownover’s extensive back catalogue of hot romance and even hotter male leads is a treat for any reader. Our standout favourites include:

  • Downfall, and not just for the cover! Downfall is a standalone series that follows Solo and Orly as they explore a blossoming romance, all whilst Orly’s dark past threatens all she cares about.
  • The Marked Men series. Definitely a favourite of ours because it doesn’t just settle for an erotic story. Don’t get us wrong, it’s got eroticism by the bucket load, however Crownover doesn’t let that be the only jewel in her crown. Each story’s ending sticks with you well after it’s finished, displaying a level of emotion and authenticity that’s sometimes rare to see in the genre.

Crownover’s latest book Justified (Loveless) will be released June 25, 2019 and we can’t wait!

That’s right, your favourite cougar dating site has pulled together the ultimate list of dating and romance literature you need to check out in 2019. We just can’t wait for these soon-to-be-released works of dating advice, steamy erotic novels, fantastic romance comedies and more. Don’t you dare go on another date until you’ve checked out our list, your next relationship will thank you for it!

William’s latest book is described an ’emotional and unflinchingly honest memoir of coming out of the closet late in life, owning up to the past, and facing the future’. His previous work is what drew our to attention to William. ‘Fashionably Late: Gay, Bi & Trans Men Who Came Out Later in Life’ deals with a similar topic, looking at the trials and tribulations not only of coming out – but doing so as a mature man. Not pulling any punches everything from gay conversion therapy to the difficult divorce are touched upon in the book.

Fashionably Late was an honest and authentic look at the feelings of a range of individuals, going through a difficult life transition. ‘The Lie: A Memoir of Two Marriages, Catfishing & Coming Out’ is set to be another in genuine look into a difficult topic, this time with a heightened sense of drama and a central narrative that we’re anticipating is just as page turning as William’s last book.

Travis’ back catalogue of work is as extensive as it is uplifting. Travis’ aim is to share happiness and goodwill through his books and the ‘Optimism Program’; a program described as ‘helping optimists change the world’. Read any of Travis’ work and you can see how optimism is his leading ideal, from ’52 Questions For A Happy Friendship’ to ‘Leading Happiness’.

Travis’ latest work is tackling the issues of dating and relationships, helping to ‘develop better communication skills and a more satisfying love life’ just by asking questions. It’s set to be an essential for any couple looking to grow and develop their relationship in a fun way and we’re super excited to get a copy when it’s released.

‘I Just Haven’t Met You Yet: Finding Self-Empowerment in Dating, Love, and Life’, no it’s not an incorrect guess for the second line in that famous song, instead it’s the soon to-be-released work by author Tracy Strauss.

Tracy gained our attention back in 2014 during her appearance on the The Steve Harvey Show. Her dating insights have been shared on a number of high-profile online blogs (Huffington Post, Glamour). So you can imagine our excitement when we heard she was writing a book. Her other writing has featured in a range of scholarly publications, and after reading you can see why. With a insightful and intelligent tone, Tracey’s soon to-be-released ‘I Just Haven’t Met You Yet’ is set to be a must read.

If you’re looking for a steamy night with a must read book, Tessa Bailey has always been a go-to for us. With an extensive back catalogue of work, you’re going to be happy we introduced you to this fantastic author.

Exciting and sexy, Tessa’s work is a treat for the eyes. The stand out series for most of our members have been the Line of Duty Series; a 5 book series following hot cops and ever hotter writing.

So why has ‘Fix Her Up’ caught our eye, ladies and gentlemen, it’s a romantic comedy. We’re so excited to see how Tessa transitions her fantastic writing to another genre! We’re expecting a whole heap of laughs alongside our usual dose of love and romance.

We’re big fans of the Instagram account @awardsforgoodboys, so imagine our surprise when we heard it’s unique yet insightful brand of humour was making it to a book. The account has a keen eye on our current dating and gender culture. With such a low bar for men to be considered ‘good boys’, when basic human decency is lauded as chivalry, what impact does that have on our day to day lives.

As a dating site, we see the full range of dating etiquette, from the honest to the sub-standard. Awards For Good Boys has a perfect and hilarious insight into the poorer parts of our relationship culture and we’re so excited to read Shelby’s latest release.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Shannon Boodram has been a frequent face in the dating world, offering her unique insight across a range of high profile TV shows, publications and her YouTube channel. Her first book ‘Laid: Young People’s Experiences with Sex in an Easy-Access Culture’, was an insightful look into the open sex culture of today. With direct accounts from a number of individuals, plus Shannon’s usual dating intelligence, ‘Laid’ was a fantastic debut book.

Her next book however is one that’s got us super excited. Ladies, it looks set to be a must-read! A self-described how-t0-guide, Shannon aims to teach us self-confidence and self-discovery, all to gain control of our dating lives and get exactly what we’re looking for. Shannon’s previous insights have been so fantastic, that this book is set to be our must-read as soon as it’s out.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Dating in our modern connected times; it’s safe to say we take it for granted. With our online dating world being such a new phenomenon, this opens the door to completed different dating experiences – whether they be good or bad. There’s been quite a lot of novels about this, Virtually Yours by Sarvenaz Tash is set to be a fantastic addition to the genre.

While geared towards children and teens, many of our members really love Sarvenaz work. Her previous novel, ‘The Geek’s Guide to Unrequited Love’, was a hilarious yet touching story of that heart fluttering kind of love and the pursuit to get the girl of your dreams. Obviously, as a dating site we love when topics on online dating get explored. Mix this with the delightful writing we’ve seen from Sarvenaz, Virtually Yours is set to be a must read on launch day.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

If this was a list of the best titled book, ‘The Coitus Chronicles: My Quest for Sex, Love, and Orgasms’ would still make the list. Funny girl and down-right fantastic author, Olive Persimmon latest work is set to be even better than ‘Unintentionally Celibate’, a book many of our members absolutely loved.

Olive Persimmon has been detailing her revelations about dating, love and sex all with a sharp humour for years. ‘Unintentionally Celibate’ explores an experience many of us may have shared. Put down the steamy erotic novels, this is a delightful look at what’s it like to never enter the kingdom of orgasm.

And the quest continues in ‘The Coitus Chronicles’. If this latest release is as funny, touching and genuinely real as ‘Unintentionally Celibate’, then we’re set for a fantastic second book.

To summarise Madison’s work? Unashamed fun and blush-inducing sexiness. Natasha Madison has been a firm favourite of ours for quite a while, with her latest series ‘Hollywood Royalty’ being a continuation of her saucy and entertaining writing style.

For anyone who wants a brilliant introduction to Madison, check out the ‘Tempt Series’. The first book follows Austin and Lauren, boss and assistant who’s sexual attraction for each other is difficult to ignore. Instead of doing what HR probably would advise, they find themselves in a number of hilarious situations. A novel that expertly blends sexy and comedy. The second in the series, ‘Tempt The Playboy’ plays out alongside the first, focussing on Noah and Kaleigh – a unashamed womaniser and a hardened-to-love, confident woman. If you love sexy banter, this is one series to check out.

The ‘Hollywood Royalty’ series has been fantastic. Transporting Madison’s signature sexy writing to the world of Hollywood and the movies. The third in the series ‘Hollywood Prince’ makes our list as one of the most eagerly anticipated romance and erotic literature of 2019.

We absolutely loved Herkness’ Wager of the Heart series. Each follows a handsome, rich protagonist harbouring a difficult truth – most notably a lack of real love. Each of these rugged men, struggle to find someone to love who’s not just there for their money. That’s until a lovable, hard-working love interest crashes into their life. Each story has you rooting for a happy ever after, bringing a level of charm into what is a very sexy story.

Herkness’ latest series ‘Second Glances’ is another equally enjoyable instance of the ‘exotic billionaire hunk – antithetical yet gorgeous love interest’ storyline. ‘Second Time Around’ was a sexy, explosion into a new series and we can’t wait for the follow-up – ‘Second Act’.

With blossoming romances and an undercurrent of action and drama, the ‘Sapphire Bay’ series has got us gripped and we can’t wait for the next in the series; ‘Before Today’.

For anyone who hasn’t read any of the ‘Sapphire Bay’ series yet (or any of Morgan’s other brilliant series, most notably ‘Emerald Lake Billionaires’ and ‘The Montana Brides’), you need to fix that sharpish. ‘Falling for You’, the series’ introduction, is still our firm favourite. Following Natalie Armstrong and Gabe Lanigan, a developing relationship keeps you invested while an ever-lurking danger keeps you tense and desperate to know what happens next.

‘Before Today’ introduces a rugged yet lovable male protagonist in Levi Montgomery, set to turn Brooke Johnson’s simple life in Sapphire Bay upside down. Check this out on release date.

It’s no surprise that romance novels that delve into the world of modern dating and online dating are extra intriguing for us – and we’re super excited for this author to take the helm. ‘The Magnolia Chronicles: Adventures in Modern Dating’ is set to be a witty tale of embarrassment and compassion.

Our interest in Canterbary peaked on a very different series however, The Walsh Series. A series that follows a string of masculine rebels and damaged heartthrobs. Full of wild eroticism and headstrong characters, the 8 part series is definitely one to check out. We can’t wait to see Canterbary’s writing style become even more flexible, introducing comedy, satire and a biting account of modern dating.

Albert first came up on our radar with the Out of Uniform series, following the love affairs of men in the military – and boy, do we love a military storyline! Albert’s work really shines through thanks to its focus on character. We spend a great deal of time establishing the relationship between the love interests, we see them bonding and growing together. All of which makes the eroticism all the more captivating. Wheels Up, has to be our favourite which layers on an extra dollop of emotion to the story.

Albert’s latest series ‘Frozen Hearts’ is set to start with ‘Arctic Sun’ – a tale ‘opposites-attract romance between a rugged outdoorsman and a smoking hot former male model’. We’re super excited to check it out and that’s why it’s made our list!

Nandini Bajpai weaves exciting depictions of Indian culture and facets of relationships anyone can relate to in her previous work. From ‘Red Turban White Horse: My Sister’s Hurricane Wedding’; a thoroughly enjoyable page turner to ‘Starcursed’; an exciting novel of history, romance and drama, Nandini’s work has been a favourite for a number of our members.

Nandini latest novel ‘A Match Made in Mehendi’ takes us straight into high school, for what’s set to be a story of embarrassing first loves and the social jungle that is teen life. The story looks to bring in the same themes of tradition and culture present in her other works, which make such enthralling books to read.

Yes! A follow up to ‘One Man Guy’. That’s exactly what we thought when we heard of Michael Barakiva’s latest release ‘Hold My Hand’.

‘One Man Guy’ is a brilliant depiction of adolescent love and discovery centred around two growing young boys. With a tone that’s sweet and endearing, ‘One Man Guy’ is a difficult book to put down. Following the story of Alek and Ethan, very few stories successfully engross you in the characters’ story so well that you feel alongside with them. Whether that be the highs of love or the lows of heartbreak.

After such a powerful debut novel, we have big expectations for ‘Hold My Hand’. We’re so thrilled we get to continue the story of two enchanting characters.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Mary Ann Marlowe first novel ‘Some Kind of Magic’ was a fantastic debut. Biochemist Eden Sinclair meets international rock star Adam Copeland, for a central relationship that’s electric and sexy. Marlowe’s writing style never bores, she keeps you on your toes in this fast, flirty novel.

And it’s for this reason we’re extremely excited for Marlowe’s latest work, ‘Dating by the Book’. No, it’s not an alternative to ‘Dating for Dummies’. ‘Dating by the Book’ introduces us to ‘writer and bookstore owner Maddie Hanson’ as she embarks on a journey of love and romantic celebration. Not settling for one love interest, ‘Dating by the Book’ our protagonist whirlwind dating life meets ‘a smoldering rock musician, the bookish college professor… even a Silver Fox’. If ‘Dating by the Book’ has the same flirty, vivaciousness of  ‘Some Kind of Magic’, then we’re in for a treat.

Leslie Morgan Steiner 2009 hit ‘Crazy Love’ was a raw and authentic memoir of surviving domestic violence. While difficult to read a certain points, its powerful writing style made for an excellent read. This book and her subsequent media appearances have helped inspire confidence, strength and leadership for many women.

We’re so excited for ‘The Naked Truth’ as it details a story many of our members have experienced, the desire to rid themselves of the shackles of the lonely, middle-aged divorcee cliché. With a confident and unashamed attitude, Leslie accounts her search for sexual and romantic satisfaction. We’re hoping for Leslie’s traditional unfiltered writing style that really explores what it’s like to date and find love at a confident, mature woman.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Lauren Morrill has been a firm favourite for many of our members, her comforting writing style makes her work a pleasure to read. A really gem of ‘swoon romance’, Lauren’s novels are a delightful must read.

‘Better Than the Best Plan’ seems set on continuing that tradition. Not the first time Lauren’s tackled the idea of ‘first love’ (check out ‘Being Sloane Jacobs’ which mixes young love with delightful and funny body swap antics), ‘Better Than the Best Plan’ tells the story of Ritzy as she’s taken back to foster care – however are things really as bad as they seem? Definitely one for our list of eagerly anticipated dating books.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Get ready ladies, it’s another set of steamy erotic literature; and for us, Kate Meader is a firm favourite. This may be cheating, but Kate’s on our list twice – for the next two books in the ‘Laws of Attraction’ series (Illegally Yours and Then Came You). We’ve cooked up some romance in the ‘Hot in the Kitchen’ series, we’ve swooned for sexy firemen in the ‘Hot in Chicago’ series. Now get ready for some steamy lawyer action in the ‘Laws of Attraction’ series (Are you pro-bono or just happy to see me?).

With a sharp sexy writing style and a love of dramatic, Kate Meader’s work has always been a firm favourite of ours. The first in the series; ‘Down with Love’, was a fantastic introduction into this world of romance and law. Where the courtroom isn’t the only place for the action. Definitely one to check out.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Get ready ladies, it’s about to get steamy. Evie Claire is back with what’s set to be a hot return to form with ‘Let’s Talk About Sext’. The last work from Evie Claire was all the back in 2016, with the ‘Hollywood Hot Mess’ series – a two book series I really loved and so did many of our members.

‘Hollywood Hot Mess’ did away with romance novel boredom. Yes, the action was definitely a high point but unlike many others in the genre, it wasn’t the only thing on offer. With a twisting and ever increasingly surprising story, the ‘Hollywood Hot Mess’ series was a fantastic debut. We’re so excited Evie is back with a new two part series and we eagerly anticipating was set to be a fantastic read.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

David Yoon’s debut novel makes our list of most for the most eagerly anticipated romance and dating literature of 2019. The novel promises a coming-of-age story that tackles ethnicity, love and what it means to understand yourself. Already receiving rave reviews and even being optioned to be a film by Paramount, this debut novel is set to be a explosive introduction on the scene. We can’t wait!

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Just by reading We Are the Perfect Girl’s synopsis, we’re getting excited for what’s set to be a hilarious and endearing story of friendship and cute boy crushes, and there’s very few authors better to tell the story than Ariel Kaplan. Friends Aphra and Bethany fall for the handsome Greg and embark on an elaborate story of disguise and deceit. ‘What begins as an honest mistake turns into an elaborate deception, wherein Bethany goes on dates with Greg while Aphra coaches her on what to say, and texts him in the guise of Bethany, trying and failing, all the while, to tamp down her own hopeless crush. It’s only a matter of time before things come crashing down. ‘

Kaplin’s previous work is full of sharp wit and heart-filled stories. A strong voice in the young adult fiction genre, this latest work is set to be a fantastic read.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

‘Sex and the Enneagram’ is the latest work by Ann Gadd and definitely something we have a peak curious interest in reading. For many of our members, understanding our attitudes towards sex and relationships has been something long pondered; how do these attitudes change when we put through the model of ‘the Enneagram’ – a 9 personality type teaching.

Gadd’s previous work has enlightened us on many aspects of our lives, from income to self-confidence. Gadd has previously discussed relationships a number of times and we hoping ‘Sex and the Enneagram’ again brings that sharp insight Gadd is known for. Definitely one to check out if you’re looking to better understand yourself and you relationships.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Alisha Rai’s work has been a firm favourite for many of our members, a her latest work is set to bring her steamy and explosive writing style to a topic we know particularly well – online dating.

If erotic literature is your thing, Alisha Rai has been a powerhouse in the genre for a number of years. With a seductive way of words, deep and engaging characters and a sensual story, Rai is definitely one to check out. We’re super excited for ‘The Right Swipe: A Novel’ which firmly places her work in the modern dating world we live in.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Mary Calmes first came to our attention with the brilliant Marshal series. Following Miro Jones a, you guessed it, US Marshal trying to understand new feelings for his antithesis – Ian Doyle. His evolving love affair goes far from smoothly, not at all helped by his action-filled, dangerous career.

We love when a series follows one couple and the 4 part Marshall series did so with two protagonists you can’t help but fall for. Despite their differences and the explosive aspects of their relationship, you continue to root for a happy ending from book to book.

The new series Torus Intercession (which just sounds so cool!) starts with No Quick Fix which from the opening line of the blurb is set to be an interesting adventure ‘A retired SEAL is about to face his toughest assignment yet. As a nanny…’. We’re looking forward to checking out Mary Calmes new book as it’s set to blend an enveloping romantic relationship against a thrilling, action-packed backdrop.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

For us, the Alien Outlaws series is one that took us by surprise. It’s so hard to write erotic fiction and mix it well with sci-fi, but Escape from Ixilta (the first in the Aliens Outlaws series) did exactly that!

The plot follows Andie Munster as she meets the handsome Xandr and embarks on a chaotic, romantic love affair – and did we mention Xandr is a gorgeous purple alien. Sci-fi and erotic fiction are the hardest to mix well, but Rudolph did a fantastic job with this short yet punchy introduction to the series.

Rudolph has a number of similar series (Detyen Warriors series, Mated to the Alien series) that we definitely going to be checking out. But before then, we can’t wait for the next in the Alien Outlaws series – Rogue Alien’s Woman.

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Where do we start with Nana Malone? If you’re looking for sharp wit and no holds barred sexy stories, you’ve come to the right woman.

It would take us a while to pick which of Nana Malone seductive novels are our favourite, but for us the one that first drew our attention to her was ‘The Shameless Trilogy’. Get ready ladies, you’re in for a treat here.

The series follows Noah Blake, a masculine, specimen of a man that jumps from the page. With a shrouded past and dark secrets, this is one character that invites curiosity and attraction in equal measure. With some of the best twists and reveals we’ve read, for us this was an explosive introduction to Malone’s work.

Mixing royalty and heart pounding eroticism isn’t new for Malone (you need to check out Royals United and Royals Undercover) and her latest series The Heiress Duet is set to be a return to the steamy topic. Protecting the Heiress is released March, 19. It’s definitely one to pre-order now!

Amazon Button (via NiftyButtons.com)

Sasha’s previous book came to our attention for its pick of setting, the idyllic Cotswolds. Reading A Country Scandal it’s clear to see this wasn’t just a random choice of location, but it fits perfectly with the sweet, honest story. Building a relationship is one thing, but successfully painting a wonderful setting turns a novel from a good read to one that you’re enveloped within.

We follow Tobias Cavendish-Blake as he inherits not only a large stately home, but the responsibility of dealing with its impending money problems. He’s not alone however, as he’s eventually helped by Megan Taylor, a powerfully compassionate woman who you can’t help but also fall in love with.

A Country Rivalry is set to introduce even more drama into the series. We can’t wait to see what happens next to Megan and Tobias, and for that reason it’s made our list.

How I Started My Dating Life At Age 62

“Now if you told me I’d be going on a first date aged 62, I would’ve thought you were ridiculous. But there I was, meeting this charming man in a town in Southern France. With flowing wine and fireworks, it was as romantic as it could get. It was a night of nervous, giddy excitement akin to being a teenager again. After losing my partner of over 40 years and accepting a life being on my own, this evening was something I never thought I would be experience again. But there I was!”

Maya’s (not real name) story is one of tragic loss and an inspiring comeback. After losing the love of her life, Maya thought that would be her one and only experience of love. However, with help from some unlikely sources, she was introduced to a world of mature dating – one she never thought existed.

Meeting The Love Of My Life

“I first met Frank at a library at our college in the early 50’s. He caught my eye because he was dressed incredibly smartly, he looked so very handsome. I was staring at him across the library floor, when he looked up and caught my eye, I jolted my head away. I couldn’t see myself, but I’m pretty sure I was going red because he gave a little chuckle”.

“I saw him a few more times, at classes and at organised socials we had – every time I saw him he saw dressed like an absolute gentleman. And on one evening, to my surprise he came and talked to me. I remember thinking his voice was gentle and the way he spoke so well-mannered, I was like butter!”

“In a few short months, he asked to marry me at the steps of the library where I first saw him. To his dismay, I remember not saying yes. Granted, I really wanted to, the fact he asked me made ecstatic. But I actually told him I’d sleep on it, mostly because I wanted to ask my mother. Thankfully, she was more than happy and pleaded with me to say yes. One day later, I called him on the telephone and finally told him yes”.

“Losing the love of my life at aged 60 did hurt so much, but if I had the chance that wouldn’t stop me from going back and saying yes to him again. We had many lovely years together and three children. When I was 58 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and slowly deteriorated until he died a day after my 60th birthday”.

My Daughters’ Plot

“The first thing to hit you is the loneliness. Frank had been a part of my life for so long, the only man I had ever dated. When he was gone our home became so quiet. I had accepted that Frank will have been my only partner and that that chapter in my life had closed”.

“Of all things, it was table tennis that introduced me into the dating world. My two daughters was well aware of the hardship I had gone through over the last few years and how lonely I was in the recent months. They had told me on multiple occasions that I should try and get back out there and meet someone new, but at 60 years old I didn’t think that was something I could do. They took it upon themselves to try and do something about that, which I was completely oblivious about until they revealed their sneaky plot”.

“I’ve loved table tennis all my life, I started playing in my late twenties and competed in a number of competitions and did quite well. In my later years, I’m not as quick on the ball as I used to be, but I’ve always felt younger than my age and I love any chance to play. My daughters invited me to a bar a little out of town that offered table tennis, which I thought would be so much fun. However, when I arrived my daughters were nowhere to be seen. I called them but couldn’t get through, the only way they contacted me was a single line text saying ‘good luck’”.

“This handsome man aged late 50’s then came up to me and called me by my name, which I was taken aback by. The first impression I got was that he reminded me of my Frank, dressed so smartly but with a rugged, grey beard that made him look very modern. He smiled and explained what he had been told my by daughters, that they found him Toyboy Warehouse and asked if he would like to meet me for a ‘surprise date’”.

“I didn’t know what to think, I started to walk away, there was no way I was going to meet some stranger from the internet, no less go on a date with him. But he caught up to me and explained that he’s just a normal guy, that he’d love to play a few rounds of table tennis and if at any point I felt uncomfortable, I could leave. Just like my Frank, he spoke in such a smooth, polite way that I had to take him on his offer”.

“The evening was so much fun, he was terrible at table tennis but he made me laugh more than I had done in such a long time. We went on a bunch more dates together and despite it not working out long term, I remember having more fun that I thought I could possibly have again”.

“Tinges of guilt did creep up, that I was disrespecting Frank in some way. However it was my daughters that me realise that my age shouldn’t mean I had to be closed off from experiences such as these.”

A New World Of Dating

“They had opened my eyes to a world of dating, from then I tried to delve into as much as I could. With help from my daughters I started online dating, I went to singles evenings, I wanted to do it all”.

“It quickly became apparent that I was still young at heart and I wanted to date someone with the same energy. There were quite a lot of guys my age that had settled into a routine, so I lent towards guys slightly younger than me who still wanted to travel and experience the world. I don’t know if you’d call what I do cougar dating, but what I do know is younger guys are able to match my energy and thirst for adventure.

“The most magical evening was in the south of France, I was on vacation with my family and this steely fox of a man invited me to a vineyard he owns. If he asked just a few years ago, I wouldn’t have shyly declined but I remember shocking myself and telling him exactly what I said so many years ago: ‘I’ll think about it, let me sleep on it’. My daughters were the first to tell me that I was being silly, that he seems like a catch and I should take him up on his offer. The next time I saw him, I agreed to go on a date with him and it was the most wonderful evening. It was that night that I realised it had been a long time since I felt lonely”.

“It was on deciding to open up the world and let experiences happen, that my life around. I miss Frank everyday and that’ll never stop. However, if I realised anything it’s that my mature age is not a barrier. That my generation is still experiencing the world and meeting the most interesting of people. For me, it just took a bold step into something new”.

For anyone who has completed copious amounts research into mind reading and have cracked the code to finally hear other people’s thoughts, don’t bother reading this.

For the rest of you, you’re in luck, today you’re about to find out what other people really think when reading your dating messages, all without the aid of psychic abilities. That’s right, we asked a random segment of cougar dating site Toyboy Warehouse members exactly what goes through their head after reading your beautifully scripted DMs. The results may shock you.

We asked the girls…

Message: “Hey x”

The girls said: You guessed it, it’s a big fat ‘no’. On Toyboy Warehouse, women get 3x more messages than men. So a first message is really an opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Even if you’re the next Brad Pitt, with a bank balance to match, message with just a ‘hey’ at your peril. The consensus has spoken, it’s not going to end well for you.

Message: ‘Hey, I’ve been single for soo long, please date me!’

The girls said: You guessed it again. It you fancy sending a downbeat first message, you’re going to get a downbeat reply – if one at all.

Message: “You look beautiful/attractive/sexy”

The girls said: Compliments are a funny thing, sometimes they can bring joy, other times they can make you look a little bit creepy. But according to a group of our members, that distinction isn’t random.

Unsolicited physical compliments, for the most part, were seen negatively. Unless there was a little rapport already built, even the nicest compliment comes across needy and weird. So if you do want to say something nice about someone’s appearance, try and build a foundation first. However, maybe you’re looking to compliment something other than appearance, for example:

  • ‘wow, you’re a X? A lot of my family are X, I also thought it was amazing to have a job that makes such a difference in people’s lives’
  • ‘Is that actually you in that rock climbing picture? That’s so high! Awesome job!’

Compliments such as these were looked on much more favourably. It still possible to be a bit creepy if done wrong, but as long as you’re kind and sincere it’s a great way to get some dating brownie points.

Message: Corny pick up line

The girls said: It looks like the corny pick up line has made full circle and is now a perfectly acceptable first message. The consensus said a funny pick up line is a great way to say hello, only if it was done in a slightly self-deprecating way. As long as the other person intended it to be corny, and not actually a pick up line that would work every time, then it’s considered a sweet and fun first message.

We asked the guys…

Message: ‘You eyes/hair/muscles looks good’

The guys said: It seems physical compliments were a big ‘yes, please’ from the guys. The general consensus said it’s a nice little ego-boost and a good way to show you’re interested. It’s worth keeping it pretty clean (nothing too explicit) but being a little flirty or sexy with it is perfectly acceptable.

Message: ‘Can I get your phone number?’

The guys said: While the ladies making that the big leap and asking for a phone number is mostly appreciated, it being a first message is considered a little forward. Accordingly to the guys, 3-5 messages was sufficient before asking for a phone number. Anything less seems a little desperate, anything more and you’re at risk of just being a ‘dating site friend’ and never anything more.

Message: “Hey x’

The guys said: There’s a general consensus that guys shouldn’t just message ‘hey’, that women don’t like it and that it rarely leads to a reply. It turns out the same is true for women. Our members called the simple ‘hey’ message ‘lazy’ and something ‘not really worth a reply’.

Message: ‘Hey, I’ve been single for soo long, please date me!’

The guys said: While this may be a little dramatic, variations on a pessimistic or downbeat first message are not received very well. The most common response was that desperation is a little unattractive. While the other person may not be the happiest bunny in the world, starting off your dating journey with a downbeat message isn’t the best way to go.

Through April’s eyes, we experience joys and heartaches that echo across more than a half-century of old family secrets and ways, and the triumphs and defeats involved in trying to break the mould. The book sheds light on universal struggles involving love, sexuality, addiction, and mental health. April’s adventures lead to betrayal and suffering, and her fate depends on family. As a woman in recovery, the author values the time she has left, and through her own story, urges readers to do the same via activities such as singing like no one’s listening, riding a horse, and performing random acts of kindness. She enumerates many more exercises under the headings of “spiritual endeavours,” “thrill seeking ventures,” “lifestyle changes,” and so forth, but the message is that we should value and embrace life to the fullest. VERDICT An inspiring read for those who are in or have passed through middle age.

“How do I know if he’s genuinely interested in getting to know me?”

No doubt you’ll have spent your time scanning through the multitude of profiles appearing in your search box every week, but what is it that makes us stop and look and when we do what is we want to see?

Creating a profile can be one of the hardest things in the world, but it can also be one of the easiest depending how you approach it. Yes, the majority of us are drawn to people we fancy and despite what everyone says about that being shallow, it isn’t.

We are all drawn to different types so why are we penalised for it? Sure, there are men and women who will only consider tall dark and handsome or slim and beautiful from the perspective of being seen with someone everyone looks at, but that’s usually reserved for Hollywood. Even for the rest of us, looks do play a part when all you’ve got to go on is a photo. So, how do we create a profile someone will look at?

Where do you start?

First and foremost, remember this is about you, it is letting someone get to know you a little and giving them an idea as to whether you could be suited. For example, if you’re looking for a ‘friend with benefits’ and the profile states ‘looking for the love of my life’ it’s unlikely to work, so always be honest about what you’re looking for – it saves wasting everybody’s time

Writing about yourself can be really easy by merely giving a list of what you’re looking for, but that doesn’t really say a lot about you. However, lists can be good as a starting point. Write down what you like alongside what you don’t like about yourself , for example you may consider yourself a very generous person, but you can be really impatient with people who are always late – remember this is just a list, how you word it in your profile can be the difference between someone thinking you’re a clock watching impatient control freak to someone who merely likes being on time.

When you’ve compiled your list, put together the same for the qualities and attributes you admire and hope to find in the person you’re looking for and any deal breakers. By deal breakers I mean things you just wouldn’t be able to tolerate, for example smoking.

Once you’ve done this, you should see certain key points you’d like to tell people about yourself involving both positive and negative – though go easy on the negative, after all you are trying to find a date. Don’t scare them too much, but let them see you’re human. Don’t feel the need to go through everything you’ve listed, you can do that at a later date when you have made a connection, for now you just want to give a good overview. Below is an idea of the kind of thing I mean:

‘Hi, I’m a marketing manager working for a multi national company which specialises in beauty products, which I enjoy.

In my spare time I really love to spend my time outdoors whether that’s keeping fit by running or cycling or just enjoying the world around me on a long walk so whilst I enjoy staying in and watching a film on occasion, I’m not really much of a cosy night in kind of person.

I’m very much into health and fitness and would expect you to be too so not looking for a smoker or someone who doesn’t like to do any sport or fitness. I’m a very giving person, but as my work centres around deadlines I tend to find this follows through to my personal life so I’m always on time for everything and hope you’d be same – though I can be a flexible’

What this tells the reader is they are energetic and health conscious so straight away if you’re not into fitness, you smoke and like staying in its unlikely this will be a good match. On the other hand, if a relationship is not what you’re looking for, then quite simply say so:

‘Hi, before I go into too much detail, I need to say straight from the outset that I am not looking for a relationship, but looking for someone to have some fun with no strings attached. If this suits you, please read further’

Again, whilst we may not happy this is all they are looking for, it is honest and it is open – by being upfront it allows the reader to simply move on to the next.

Profile Pictures

Photos are pretty important but I’m amazed at how many people still rely on an old photo to draw people in! You’re not fooling anyone other than yourself. Deception is a pretty bad way to start any kind of relationship, though from what I’ve heard, some seem to think that after talking to each for some time, by the time they actually meet it won’t matter. It will!

Not only have you lied to them about a true photo, but what other lies have you told? That’s what I’d be thinking and quite frankly if I’d been speaking to someone for some time, arranged to meet and they turned out to be older and very different to what I expected, I would be pretty annoyed and probably wouldn’t stay and drive off!

The kind of photo you use will also determine who looks at your profile so guys in particular, think about what you want to be seen as. Putting a half naked,  jeans just covering your manhood photo may sit better in Playboy rather than a dating site, but again it depends who you are trying to attract. If you’re looking for a relationship then most of the ladies who are looking for that too will probably simply pass you by assuming, as the photo suggests, you are just looking for fun. Think about what and how you want to project yourself and who you want to attract.

Ladies the same goes for you, if your profile photo is of your cleavage more than your face, your message could be misconstrued and you might miss out on some amazing people unless of course you are looking to attract a more casual relationship.

The Specifics

Height, now that’s a contentious issue. It’s said most women like a tall man, but truth is most women just want someone to look up to – that doesn’t mean you have to be 6’6” unless of course the woman in question is perhaps 6’ 2”, the key thing here is don’t lie about it! If you’re 5’ 5” in your cotton socks, say so, as the love of your life may only be 5’ – height is not something you guys can hide unless of course you intend on wearing stacked Cuban heels on your date!!

Weight, another contentious issue. Now I’m not saying you need to list your actual weight in a profile, but if you are a few stone over, putting an older photo on when you were slimmer is not going to do you any favours if you decide to meet. Remember people want to see you for who you are and be with you because of that so why mislead? There will always be men who prefer a slimmer figure and those who want curves, so whatever you are embrace it because the same can be said for women who look for slender muscular types and those who prefer someone cuddly and rounded.

Always, always be true to yourself, what one person hates, another loves. We don’t need to be anyone except the person we are because we are all beautiful in our own special way and someone will be glad you are. The world is not perfect, so don’t try to be because you already are. There is someone out there for all of us and like you all I’m still looking too!

Take care and happy dating!!
